Why you should visit Bosnia and Herzegovina?

A land where turquoise rivers run swift and sheep huddle on steep hillsides, Bosnia-Herzegovina is one of Europe’s most visually stunning corners. With muezzins calling the faithful to prayer under a backdrop of church bells, it also provides a delightful fusion of East and West in the heart of the Balkans. Appropriately, the country is now marketing itself as the “heart-shaped land”, unintentionally revealing more perhaps than just the shape of its borders: this remains a country cleaved into two distinct entities, the result of a bloody war in the mid-1990s. However, while Bosnia-Herzegovina was not too long ago making headlines for all the wrong reasons, it’s now busily, and deservedly, re-etching itself on the world travel map as a bona fide backpacker magnet of some repute.

OLD TOWN

Sarajevo is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, famous for its traditional cultural and religious diversity. Baščaršija is the city’s delightful Old Town and home to umpteen mosques, bazaars, kebab restaurants and cafés. It’s hard to walk around without being offered coffee, and it’s hard to be invited for coffee without making friends.

MOUNTAINS

BiH is known for its natural beauty: mountains,forests,resorts and opportunities to discover wilds. Covered by snow, they are heaven for amateurs and skilled skiers, and for those who search for adventure. Most famous mountains are Bjelašnica, Trebević, Igman and Jahorina which achieved world popularity after hosting of the Winter Olympic Games in 1984.

VRELO BOSNE

The spring of river Bosna is natural park protected by law and famous local place for picnic, rest and enjoy in nature. There is a long alley, where you can walk or you can take a carriage and experience drive through the beautiful alley. You can walk through the paths in the woods, where is quiet and peace. Many families come here with children to spend weekend.

TUNEL SPASA

''Tunnel of Hope'' has become a symbol of the siege of Sarajevo during the last war (1992-1995). It was built under the airport runway and became the hope for people in Sarajevo. Through the tunnel were coming supplies, remedies and food. Today, it is an unusual museum. Thousands of people from Bosnia and tourists visit tunnel every year.

MOSTAR

Old Bridge over Neretva is the famous symbol of this town and named as the one of the 20th most beautiful bridges all over the world. It is one of BiG's most recognizable landmarks, and is considered one of the most exemplary pieces of Islamic architecture in the Balkans. Mostar is one of the most visited places in Bosnia, expecially in the summer.

BLAGAJ - BUNA RIVER

The famous natural spring of Buna River is the largest karst pring in Europe, with an average annual flow rate of 43 m³ per second. The spring is to be found under a 200 metre high rock and, very near it, stands the fascinating dervish Tekija monastery that, together with its surrounding landscape, creates a unique and unrepeatable scenery.

WATERFALL KRAVICE

Most fascinating naturalistic feature of this region is the sparkling waterfalls of Kravice, about 40 km from Mostar. The waters of the Trebižat River, cascading from the tuﬀ walls from a height of 30 metres and form a natural amphitheatre. Perfect place to relax and enjoy with the constant sound of waterfalls in the background.

WATERFALL JAJCE

The waterfall of the Pliva river is in the centre of Jajce and is one of the twelve most beautiful waterfalls in the world. This is also the only one that is situated in the middle of a town. The clean and clear Pliva river falls from 17 meter high into the river Vrbas in a magnificient way. This is a natural monument of beauty and you must visit it as soon as posible.
